Police Arrest Peller Over Reckless Driving During Live Stream

Peller arrest has triggered fresh concern over reckless driving after Lagos police detained social media influencer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, for a dangerous live-streamed crash.

The Peller arrest followed a viral video that showed him driving recklessly before crashing his vehicle during a live broadcast on Sunday, December 14, 2025.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the arrest on Tuesday through its spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi.

Peller Arrest Linked to Reckless Driving

Police said Peller’s actions posed a clear threat to public safety and demanded swift action.

“The Lagos State Police Command arrested and detained Habeeb Hamzat aka ‘Peller’ after a viral video showed him driving recklessly and causing a dangerous road crash while live-streaming,” the statement said.

Officers stressed that the act endangered both the influencer and other road users.

“His action constitutes a deliberate attempt to commit suicide and endangers the lives of other innocent people,” the police added.

Investigation Follows Peller Arrest

Investigators have transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry.

“The SCID is handling the case, and investigators will charge the suspect in court after concluding the investigation,” the statement said.

Police assured residents that the process would follow the law.

Police Warn Influencers After Peller Arrest

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, issued a strong warning to influencers and content creators.

He urged them to stop using social media platforms to promote reckless or unlawful acts.

“Such conduct will not be tolerated. The law will apply fully to any offender,” the police warned.

The command also advised all motorists to obey traffic rules.

Public Safety Concerns Grow

The Peller arrest has renewed debate over risky stunts by content creators chasing online attention.

Many Nigerians now call for stricter enforcement of traffic laws to deter similar incidents.

Authorities continue to link many road crashes in Lagos to speeding, distraction, and poor compliance with safety rules.

Police restated their commitment to prosecute anyone who endangers lives, regardless of social status or online influence.
