Portable to Iyabo Ojo: ‘Any Woman Not in Her Husband’s House Isn’t a Queen’

Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has criticised actress Iyabo Ojo over her recent comments praising single motherhood.

The reaction followed a viral video of Iyabo Ojo speaking on the issue. In the clip, the actress argued that society no longer stigmatises single mothers. According to her, many now succeed without relying on men.

“Gone are the days that being a single mother was a stigma,” Iyabo Ojo said. In addition, she claimed that children of single mothers now achieve great success.

She also noted that single mothers attract marriage proposals. Moreover, she said rejection by one man does not define a woman’s worth.

Portable Rejects Iyabo Ojo’s View

However, Portable strongly disagreed with the actress’ position. He took to Instagram to dismiss her remarks and argue that marriage defines true success.

“Women who are married are the successful ones,” the singer said. In contrast, he described Iyabo Ojo’s claims about single motherhood as false.

He also criticised the message such statements could send to younger women. According to him, praising single motherhood promotes the wrong values.

Singer Warns Against ‘Wrong Example’

Furthermore, Portable questioned the advice he felt Iyabo Ojo was offering to women preparing for marriage. He warned that celebrating single motherhood could encourage unstable family structures.

“What example are you setting?” Portable asked. For instance, he criticised the idea of having children with different men.

‘Not a Queen’ Remark Sparks Reactions

Meanwhile, in a separate post, Portable attacked Iyabo Ojo’s use of the title “Queen Mother.” He insisted that only married women deserve such a title.

“Any woman not in her husband’s house is not a queen,” he said. Therefore, he argued that single motherhood should not attract praise.

As a result, the exchange triggered mixed reactions online. While many social media users condemned Portable’s remarks as offensive, others defended his views and criticised Iyabo Ojo’s comments.
