The Duke of Sussex is now being taken to court by the very charity he helped create.
The Prince Harry Sentebale defamation claim was filed on 24 March, naming Harry and former trustee Mark Dyer as defendants.
The charity alleges a coordinated media campaign caused reputational harm to Sentebale and its leadership following a bitter internal dispute.
The charity’s trustees and executive director say the lawsuit seeks court “intervention, protection, and restitution” against what they describe as deliberate media attacks designed to undermine the organisation.
They stress that no charitable funds are being used to finance the legal action — costs are met entirely by external funding.
Prince Harry and Dyer have categorically denied the allegations, calling them offensive and damaging.
Prince Harry and co-founder Prince Seeiso left Sentebale in March 2025 after a bitter boardroom clash with chair Sophie Chandauka over finances and fundraising.
The Charity Commission investigated and concluded in August 2025 that blame lay on all sides. Its chief executive warned the public fallout had put the charity’s reputation and mission at risk.
Harry had donated £1.2 million to Sentebale from his memoir Spare — and called his exit “devastating.”
