Remi Tinubu Launches Empowerment Program for PWDs in Anambra

First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu flags off a major empowerment programme targeted at persons living with disabilities in Anambra State. The venue is the Light House, Awka, on December 3, 2025.

This is because the launch coincides with the International Day of Persons Living With Disabilities. Such events are held by officials across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Programme Details Emerge

Tinubu christens the programme the Renewed Hope Initiative Social Investment Programme. It is targeted at attaining inclusive growth and shared prosperity. It does this by offering business recapitalization grants to small businesses.

Besides that, each state gets N50 million for dissemination. The effort becomes an annual event every December 3. Beneficiaries are supported.

The grants reach 250 persons with disabilities per state, with each beneficiary getting N200,000 to strengthen their livelihoods. Nationwide, 9,500 people benefit from a total of N1.9 billion.

It also leverages prior support, more than two years, supporting over 100,000 women and small business owners, including those with disabilities.

Key Statements Motivate Action

Dr. Nonye Soludo is the representative of the Anambra First Lady. She reads Tinubu’s speech, emphasizing financial independence. Soludo refers to Helen Keller to emphasize the power of teamwork.

The commissioners also commended the programme. They cited its role in accessing federal aid and pursuing ambitions despite the challenges.

Future Plans Promise Growth

Tinubu appreciates Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the support and further urged beneficiaries to put grants into good use, adding that such a move would further sustain families and show impact.

In conclusion, the program is in line with broader efforts, the assistance to the most vulnerable, through agricultural, educational and health interventions, will improve the lives of persons with disabilities, according to observers.
