Russian Strike On Apartment Building Kills At Least Eight In Ukraine

Russian forces launched a ballistic missile at a residential building in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv. The strike occurred in Ukraine’s second-largest city. A Russian ballistic missile struck a five-story apartment building in Kharkiv early on March 7 2026. The attack killed at least eight people including mothers and young children.

Moreover, the missile caused part of the building to collapse. As a result, residents became trapped under rubble.

Families Lost Loved Ones In The Attack

The victims included a primary school teacher and her second-grade son. Additionally, an eighth-grade girl died together with her mother.

Furthermore, officials confirmed at least eight deaths in total. However, ten other people suffered injuries including several children. Consequently, the strike devastated multiple households.

Mayor Confirmed Details Of The Strike

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov quickly reported the incident. He described the direct hit on the residential structure.“

A targeted ballistic strike on a multi-storey building in the Kyivskyi district has been confirmed,” Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said.

President Demands International Response

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the assault. Moreover, he called for action from global partners.“There must be a response from partners to these savage strikes against life,” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Additionally, he stated that Russia launched 29 missiles and 480 drones across Ukraine that night. Therefore, the Kharkiv strike formed part of a wider overnight barrage.

Rescue Teams Searched For Survivors

Furthermore, emergency workers arrived at the scene immediately. Consequently, they cleared debris and searched for anyone trapped. As a result, rescue operations continued for many hours.
