President Tinubu’s Son, Seyi Tinubu Bags New Chieftaincy Title in Lagos

Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has received another chieftaincy title in Lagos.

Traditional leaders installed him as the Okanlòmo of Eyọ Ọba Alakẹtẹ Pupa, Laba Ẹkun, during a ceremony held in the state. His wife, Layal Tinubu, also received a complementary chieftaincy title.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu congratulated the couple on Friday. He described the honour as a reflection of service, character, and commitment to Lagos culture.

“I warmly congratulate Barrister Oluwaseyi Tinubu on his installation,” Sanwo-Olu said. “This honour reflects service, character, and dedication to our people.”

Lagos Title Follows Oyo Installation

The Lagos ceremony came just days after another major honour in Oyo State.

On December 21, 2025, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, installed Seyi Tinubu as the Okanlòmo of Yorubaland. His wife also received the title of Yeye Okanlòmo of Yorubaland.

That event took place at the Alaafin’s palace in Oyo town. It attracted top political figures, ministers, governors, and traditional rulers from Nigeria and the Republic of Benin.

Focus on Youth and Culture

While conferring the title, the Alaafin described Tinubu as a young leader committed to youth empowerment and cultural values.

In his acceptance remarks, Tinubu thanked the monarch. He pledged continued support for youth development, unity, and Yoruba heritage.
