An Austrian Catholic priest tragically passed away during Mass on Sunday, February 1, in Wiesmath, located in the Wiener Neustadt district.
The Austrian Catholic priest, Raimund Beisteiner, was 59 years old. According to a statement from the Archdiocese of Vienna, Beisteiner lost consciousness shortly after administering Holy Communion. As he was about to return the host to the tabernacle, he collapsed in front of the congregation.

Despite receiving immediate professional medical assistance, Beisteiner passed away inside the church.
Erich Rasner, the Mayor of Wiesmath, was present at the Mass alongside a large group of worshippers. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Beisteiner as a dedicated and sensitive priest. Rasner also shared his personal grief, noting the end of a lifelong friendship.
Beisteiner had served the parish for nearly 20 years and was highly respected both within the community and beyond.
Following his passing, a prayer service was held in his honor. Many Austrian Catholic priest from the deanery, including Archbishop Josef Grunwidl, attended the service to pay their respects.
