South Africa Police Arrest Woman Over Killing of Nigerian Bolt Driver

Police in Gauteng arrested a female suspect in connection with the murder of Isaac Satlat, a 22-year-old Nigerian Bolt driver. The arrest followed the discovery of Satlat’s body in Atteridgeville on February 11, 2026.

Details of the Incident

Suspects hijacked and killed Satlat while he provided e-hailing services in Pretoria West. A dash camera captured the attack, which involved strangulation by a male and female passenger. Authorities recovered the vehicle and found Satlat’s body several kilometers away in Moshongo.

Mavela Masondo, the police spokesperson, stated that preliminary investigations pointed to the murder by the pair who requested the ride. He said, “The victim was attacked by a male and female passenger.” Additionally police indicated more arrests remained imminent as the probe continued.

Arrest and Court Appearance

Officers apprehended the female suspect shortly after the incident. She faced charges of murder and car hijacking. The suspect appeared before the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on February 16, 2026.

Masondo confirmed the arrest and added, “The suspect is expected to appear before the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing charges that include murder and car hijacking.” However the male accomplice evaded capture at that time.

Victim’s Background

Satlat studied in South Africa and worked part-time as a Bolt driver. He planned to graduate the following month and pursue further studies in Canada. Moreover reports described him as a dedicated student balancing education and work.

The killing sparked outrage over the safety of foreign nationals in South Africa. Social media platforms highlighted the video evidence and demanded swift justice. Meanwhile authorities pledged full cooperation in the investigation.
