Tinubu Will Win Re-Election in 2027, Sanwo-Olu Declares

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed confidence that Nigerians will re-elect President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. He attributed his optimism to what he described as visible gains from the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Sanwo-Olu spoke during an interview on TVC’s Journalist Hangout on Monday in Lagos. His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, later confirmed the remarks in a statement.

Reforms Strengthening Public Support

According to the governor, Tinubu’s economic reforms have improved governance and boosted revenue performance across federal and state governments. As a result, he believes Nigerians will reward the administration with another mandate.

He said revenues accruing to states and local governments have increased significantly. In addition, he noted that food prices have eased compared to earlier periods, while foreign direct investment has continued to improve.

Sanwo-Olu also pointed to growing interest from Nigerians in the diaspora, many of whom are returning home to invest and expand businesses.

Political Momentum Ahead of 2027

While admitting that challenges remain, the governor described Tinubu as a focused leader committed to delivering on campaign promises. Nevertheless, he maintained that performance, not rhetoric, would shape voter decisions.

He highlighted the rising number of governors backing the President, noting that the All Progressives Congress now controls about 28 or 29 states. According to him, this reflects growing confidence in Tinubu’s leadership.

Renewed Hope Agenda in Focus

Tinubu won the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the APC and later unveiled the Renewed Hope Agenda. The policy framework focuses on economic reform, revenue mobilisation, infrastructure development, and social intervention.

Key measures include currency reforms, improved tax compliance, and efforts to attract foreign investment. Ultimately, Sanwo-Olu said Nigerians would judge the President by results at the polls in 2027.
