Former Texas Mayor Criticizes Tinubu Ambassadorial Appointments

Former Blanco, Texas Mayor Mike Arnold has criticized President Bola Tinubu over the inclusion of Reno Omokri among 32 additional ambassadorial nominees sent to the Senate for confirmation.

Arnold, a longtime critic of Omokri, has repeatedly accused him of downplaying the persecution of Christians in Nigeria. Meanwhile, he shared his concerns in a Facebook post on Saturday.

Appointments Undermine National Integrity

Arnold claimed the President’s appointments appear to undermine Nigeria’s integrity and national unity.

Specifically, he described the nominations of Omokri and former minister Femi Fani-Kayode as “tone deaf.” He alleged the President prioritizes loyalty over competence.

Negative Message for Young Nigerians

Furthermore, Arnold argued these appointments send a negative signal to young Nigerians about the values needed to succeed in the country.

He said, “With his recently announced ambassadorial appointments, Tinubu proves not only to be tone deaf, but deaf, dumb, and blind. Moreover, appointing Omokri and FFK shows that he favors money-grubbing, boot-licking, genocide-denying sycophants over those with competence or integrity.”

Corruption and Disgrace

In addition, Arnold claimed the President is confirming himself as a corrupt dictator who disregards national unity and the welfare of ordinary citizens.

Even worse, he added, this practice signals to Nigerian children that advancing today requires abandoning honor.

Clearly, these appointments expose Nigeria’s corruption and disgrace, he concluded.
