Ahead of the national launch of the Federal Government’s Ward Development Programme, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State as the Renewed Hope Ambassador. According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), Uzodimma will also serve as Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement, and Mobilization.
The appointment takes immediate effect. Governor Uzodimma will collaborate with the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership and governors to evangelize the Tinubu administration’s programme. Additionally, as Renewed Hope Ambassador, he will promote harmony, inclusiveness, and strategic coordination across all party levels. He will also lead initiatives for mobilizing and engaging citizens nationwide.
APC Collaboration and Party Outreach
Onanuga said Governor Uzodimma will work alongside APC governors, who are also designated Ambassadors of Hope. Moreover, President Tinubu expects them to highlight and communicate the party’s achievements since 2023. This includes reinforcing the message of Renewed Hope and showcasing the administration’s milestones to Nigerians.
President Tinubu, who assumed office in May 2023 with a reform agenda, has recorded notable successes. For instance, inflation eased for the seventh consecutive month to 16.05% in October. The exchange rate has stabilized, and foreign exchange reserves increased to over $46 billion, up from $32 billion at the start of 2024.
Economic Reforms and Achievements
Investor confidence is returning, with both foreign direct investment (FDI) and portfolio investments on the rise. The oil and gas sector is a key beneficiary. The stock market is experiencing unprecedented growth. The government is diversifying the economy, with solid minerals playing a pivotal role.
Furthermore, over 700,000 students have benefitted from the government’s liberal educational loan policy. Travel passports are now issued within a week, improving citizen convenience. President Tinubu has asked Governor Uzodimma to ensure that Nigerians are aware of these achievements and understand the administration’s impact on the economy and society.
