‘Tinubu Government Is Killing Nigerians’ — Amaechi

Rotimi Amaechi

Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation, has accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu of failing to protect Nigerians.

Amaechi made the remarks in a post on X on Tuesday.

The former governor of Rivers state and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) criticised the government’s handling of insecurity, particularly in the wake of the recent bomb attacks in Maiduguri, Borno state.

Blames Government Over Maiduguri Bombings

He described the incident as a tragic reflection of failed leadership.

The ADC presidential hopeful said the government had neglected its primary duty of safeguarding lives and property.

According to him, the attack shows a leadership that is “complacent, incompetent, and indifferent” to the plight of citizens.

He said Nigerians continue to live in fear while those in power enjoy luxury and fail to take decisive action against insecurity.

Amaechi also criticised what he described as the government’s routine of issuing “hollow statements” after attacks without concrete steps.

Calls for Accountability

He questioned how many more lives must be lost before authorities take responsibility.

Amaechi said insecurity has become a daily reality for many Nigerians, while the government remains unprepared to tackle it effectively.

He said citizens deserve safety, peace, and dignity, not negligence and excuses.

Amaechi added that leadership requires responsibility and action, accusing the administration of abandoning that duty.

He also sympathised with victims of the Maiduguri bombings and their families, praying for those affected.

Amaechi said any government that cannot guarantee the safety of its people has no right to remain in power.

The ex-Rivers governor called on Tinubu to resign, insisting that the government has failed in its responsibility to protect Nigerians.
