Tinubu Present as Bello Matawalle’s 10 Children Wed in Grand Abuja Ceremony

Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, hosted the wedding of his 10 children in Abuja on February 6, 2026. The event took place at the National Mosque. Five daughters and five sons tied the knot in a joint ceremony.

Ceremony Details

The wedding Fatiha began after Jumu’ah prayers. Professor Luqman Zakariyah officiated the solemnization. In addition, the children included daughters Maryam, Safiyya, Farida, Nana Firdausi, and Aisha. Sons Ibrahim, Abdul Jalal, Surajo, Bello, and Fahad also married. A reception followed for all couples.

Presidential Attendance

Bola Tinubu, President of Nigeria, attended the event. He served as Wali for the brides and received them on behalf of the Matawalle family. Additionally Carlos Manuel Vila Nova, President of São Tomé and Príncipe, joined the gathering.

Other Dignitaries

Jibrin Barau, Deputy Senate President, participated in the ceremony. Governors Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, and Nasir Idris of Kebbi arrived. Service chiefs, diplomats, and traditional rulers filled the mosque. Moreover Aliko Dangote and Abdullahi Ganduje attended.

Imam’s Prayers

Professor Luqman Zakariyah described Tinubu as a father of all. He prayed that Tinubu’s tenure would restore hope to the hopeless in society. Moreover he also urged Muslims to prepare spiritually for Ramadan.

Matawalle’s Gratitude

Bello Matawalle expressed thanks to Tinubu. He stated, “I am deeply honoured and profoundly grateful to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for graciously serving as Wali at the wedding Fātiḥa of my children, held at the National Mosque, Abuja.” The family appreciated all attendees.

The marathon weddings started on Tuesday and culminated on Friday. In addition, This event highlighted political and family ties in Nigeria.
