A truck carrying passengers and cattle crashed on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The incident resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries.
Incident Details
The crash occurred at approximately 11:27 a.m. on February 2, 2026. It took place around the Foursquare Camp area near Ogunmakin in Ogun State. A DAF CF 380 truck with registration number SNA 287 XA veered off the road. The vehicle traveled from northern Nigeria toward Lagos.
Cause of the Crash
Excessive speed and driver fatigue led to the loss of control. The Federal Road Safety Corps attributed the accident to these factors Additionally the truck transported passengers and about 35 cows without proper separation. This mixed loading practice increased the risks.
Casualties and Victims
The accident involved 29 people in total. Six individuals died, while 23 sustained injuries. Furthermore 29 cows perished during the crash. Meanwhile the lack of segregation complicated the outcome for humans and animals.
Emergency Response
Rescue teams from the FRSC Ogunmakin Unit Command arrived within two minutes. They evacuated the injured and deceased to nearby hospitals. Victims received treatment at Oreoluwa Hospital in GOFAMINT Camp, Ogunmakin, and Victory Hospital in Ogere.

Afolabi Odunsi-Oyewole, spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, disclosed details in a statement.
He said “The incident occurred at about 11:27 hours. The response time was two minutes before the rescue team from the Federal Road Safety Corps Ogunmakin Unit Command got to the scene. A trailer, DAF CF 380, with registration number SNA 287 XA, was involved in the lone crash,” he said.
“A total of 29 persons were involved: 23 were injured while six were killed.” He added.
