Three Killed After Tree Collapses During Easter Event in Germany

A falling tree during a children’s event has left three people dead.

Three people, including a 10-month-old baby, were killed after strong winds caused a large tree to collapse during an Easter egg hunt in Germany. The incident happened on Sunday morning near the town of Satrupholm, where about 50 people had gathered for the event.

According to police, the group which was made up of new mothers, pregnant women, and children from a nearby residential facility were in a wooded area when a 100-foot tree suddenly fell. Four people were trapped beneath it.

Emergency responders arrived quickly and treated a 21-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl at the scene, but both died from their injuries. The woman’s infant daughter was taken to the hospital but later died.

Another victim, an 18-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted for treatment.

The residential facility involved is part of Germany’s state-funded child welfare system, which supports vulnerable families. The area had been placed under a high-winds warning by the German weather service before the incident.

The tragedy has raised fresh concerns about public safety during severe weather, especially at outdoor events involving children and families.
