Nigeria Ready to Tackle Security Challenges - Tunji-Ojo

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, says Nigeria is fully prepared to confront the security challenges affecting the nation.
He made this known on Thursday during an unscheduled visit to the NSCDC FCT Command and the Federal Fire Service (FFS) in Abuja.

Tinubu Gives Marching Order on National Security

The minister explained that President Bola Tinubu has issued a clear directive for all agencies under the ministry to operate more effectively.
He added that the President is “putting all hands on deck” to strengthen national safety and improve security operations across the country.

NSCDC Taking Proactive Training Measures

During his inspection of the NSCDC FCT training ground, Tunji-Ojo highlighted that the corps and other security agencies are taking proactive steps to enhance preparedness.
He stressed that paramilitary work relies on constant training and capacity building, noting that the NSCDC plays a major role in combating insecurity.

Furthermore, the minister expressed satisfaction with the progress at the training facility.
He commended the FCT Command for being “forward-thinking and ready for the tasks ahead.”

Interior Ministry Pledges Continued Support

In addition, Tunji-Ojo assured officers that the ministry will continue providing full support to all paramilitary agencies.
He noted that President Tinubu has given the ministry the political backing it needs to deliver measurable results.

The minister encouraged personnel to carry out their duties effectively, efficiently, and with respect for fundamental human rights.
He also revealed that the ministry will maintain unscheduled on-the-spot assessments of paramilitary formations nationwide.

Minister Criticises State of Federal Fire Service Facility

Later, during his visit to the Federal Fire Service station in Wuse, Tunji-Ojo expressed dissatisfaction with the facility’s condition.
Although he declined to give details, he confirmed that he would address the concerns directly with the FFS Controller General.

He stressed that the fire service, as a rescue agency, must remain prepared for emergencies.
Finally, he said the necessary corrections will be made to improve readiness across the agency.
