Super Eagles players did not grant interviews to the media on Thursday as they settled down in the city of Marrakech ahead of Saturday’s quarterfinals clash against the Desert Foxes of Algeria.

There had been controversial issues rocking the camp of the team as they got ready for the meeting against the 1990 AFCON winners.

The answers were provided by the team’s media officer, Promise Efoghe.

“In light of the recent developments, including the delayed arrival in Marrakech, all player interactions previously planned for today have been cancelled,” the journalist noted.

“We ask that the media understand and honour the teams decision not to speak at this moment.”

Aside from the bonus row, attention could also have been on the duo of Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman following their on-field spat during the game against Madagascar.

The former African Footballers of the Year winners in 2023 and 2024 were separated by teammates as Osimhen expressed his dismay over the delayed pass and potential assist from Lookman as the former chased for a hat-trick.

Nigeria’s all-time leading goal scorer in men’s football is the late Rashidi Yekini on 37 goals while Osimhen is second on that illustrious ‘hall of fame’ with 34 goals so far in his international career.
