Wike Hails Tinubu, Umahi Over Finished Bodo-Bonny Road Project

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, recently praised President Bola Tinubu and Works Minister Dave Umahi. They completed the Bodo-Bonny Road in Rivers State. This project marks a significant achievement for the region.

Historical Background of the Project

Governments promised the Bodo-Bonny Road for decades. However none delivered on those pledges until now. The 37.9-kilometer road connects Bonny Island to the mainland and ends years of unfulfilled commitments.

Residents relied on boats or helicopters to reach Bonny before. These methods posed great risks due to tides and weather. Moreover many politicians only visited by air and avoided the dangers.

Wike’s Praise During the Tour

Wike spoke during a thank-you tour in Bonny Local Government Area. He described the road as a political project that Tinubu completed without external pressure. In addition, Wike thanked Umahi for turning the president’s vision into reality.

He shared personal stories about past travels. Wike recalled checking tides before campaigns and praying during helicopter rides. Now, people drive safely to Bonny, and he glorified God for this change.

Wike questioned why Bonny residents would not support Tinubu. The road alone proves the administration’s commitment. Therefore, he urged unity among leaders to attract more development.

Significance for the Community

The road eliminates hazardous boat trips. It provides the first land access to Bonny, a key oil and gas hub. As a result, residents enjoy better safety and economic opportunities.

Local Chairman Abinye Pepple highlighted its novelty. Parents never experienced such connectivity. Furthermore it allows travel by land, water, or air and transforms daily life.

Future Implications and Unity

Tinubu opened the road temporarily on December 8, 2025. He banned night travel and heavy vehicles until full completion in early 2026. This step ensures safety during final work.

Wike called the road a lifeline and symbol of hope. It fosters support for the Tinubu administration. In conclusion, unity will bring more benefits to Bonny by 2027.
