2027: Disputes over primaries over, time to win elections, Amaechi tells ADC members

Former Rivers State governor and ADC vice-presidential candidate Rotimi Amaechi has urged party members to stop arguing over primaries. He wants them to focus on winning the 2027 elections. Amaechi made the call on Friday during the inauguration of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in Abuja. He also urged members to unite and work towards their shared political goal.

“If we are still quarrelling about the party’s primary, it is over. We have to win elections,” he said.

Amaechi reminded campaign council members of the responsibility before them. He stressed that the task required determination, unity and the courage to overcome challenges. According to him, some incumbent governments wrongly believe nobody can remove them from power.

The ADC vice-presidential candidate also recalled difficult experiences from his previous political campaigns during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) era. He alleged that security officials once stopped him at Akure Airport. According to Amaechi, a military officer advised him to leave the area because his safety could not be guaranteed. He said the incident did not stop him from pursuing his political activities.

Amaechi also recounted another incident at Akure Airport, where he claimed officials prevented him from flying. He said political leaders later intervened to resolve the situation. These experiences, he explained, showed the challenges opposition figures could face during campaigns. He urged ADC members to remain courageous, persistent and united as they prepare for the 2027 elections.
