Organizers held the 45th Kaduna International Trade Fair in Kaduna. The event featured the theme Sustainable Economic Recovery Through Deepening of Local Content Value Chain. Participants from various sectors attended to discuss economic strategies.
Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, led the push for local content development. Fatima Wali-Abdulrahman, Special Adviser to Dangote, represented him at the fair. She delivered key messages on behalf of the group.
Commitment to Local Investments
Dangote Group invested in local industries to boost growth. Wali-Abdulrahman stated: “By investing in local industries, talent, and resources, DIL does not only create jobs but also empower communities and foster sustainable economic growth.” The company sourced limestone from local suppliers and employed the largest local workforce in Nigeria.
Additionally the group expanded into cement, sugar, salt, agriculture, and oil and gas sectors. These efforts enhanced Nigeria’s GDP and built skills among workers. Dangote refined crude oil locally to benefit citizens directly.
Philanthropic Support
The Aliko Dangote Foundation provided aid to Kaduna State and Nigeria. Wali Abdulrahman highlighted this support during her address. Meanwhile she urged visitors to explore the Dangote pavilion for innovative products.
Furthermore the group promoted economic integration across Africa. This approach strengthened regional ties and reduced import dependency.
Chamber’s PraiseIshaya Idi, President of Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, commended the theme. He noted Nigeria lost billions from exporting raw materials without processing. Idi stated: “The theme of the fair is aimed at deepening local content value chain to enhance our global competitiveness through value addition in our minerals, agriculture, and other raw materials.”
He thanked Dangote for ongoing support. Idi praised the Dangote Refinery’s 650,000 barrels per day capacity and fertilizer production for local and international markets.
