Gunmen Abduct Teen Schoolgirl in Daylight Ibadan Attack, Police Begin Hunt

Gunmen kidnapped a 12-year-old schoolgirl in Ibadan. The incident occurred in the Challenge area on February 12, 2026. Assailants trailed the victim’s mother in an unmarked vehicle. They attacked at a junction near Monarch Model College around 7:20 a.m.

The gunmen fired shots into the air. Moreover residents dispersed as the attackers punctured the tyre of the mother’s Toyota RAV4 with Lagos registration KRD 350 GP. In addition, the girl resisted during the struggle. However the masked men overpowered her and drove away through the Challenge area.

Eyewitness Accountsaddition Surface

Witnesses described the chaotic scene. One anonymous eyewitness stated, “The incident happened around 7:20 am. The kidnappers were masked and drove a car with no number plates. They pursued the girl’s mother. They abducted her and drove her off. Though the girl resisted. They escaped through the Challenge area of Ibadan.”

In addition, others confirmed the armed men targeted the Junior Secondary School 2 pupil. Meanwhile their testimonies aided police investigations.

Police Confirm Incident

Authorities received the report at Orita Challenge Police Station. Officers visited the site with the victim’s mother for assessment. Moreover Olusola Olayinka Ayanlade, Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, issued a statement.

Ayanlade declared, “Preliminary information indicates that at about 7:20 a.m., a 12-year-old female student of a private secondary school in the area was allegedly abducted by unknown armed men at a junction leading to the school premises as she was alighting from a vehicle that conveyed her to school.”

Investigation Intensifies

Femi Haruna, Police Commissioner, ordered a comprehensive probe. Detectives questioned eyewitnesses and gathered leads. Additionally the victim’s parents collaborated with authorities. Meanwhile tactical teams pursued the kidnappers for a safe rescue.

Ayanlade added, “The state Commissioner of Police has directed a comprehensive and intelligence driven investigation, assuring that all possibilities and options are being explored to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring those responsible to justice.”
