Content creator Fari has taken to social media to express her distress after witnessing a recent demolition in Lagos that left many residents homeless.
In an emotional video, Fari shared that she was on her way back from the gym. When she stumbled upon the heartbreaking scene near Silverbird Road. Homes were being torn down, leaving families stranded with their belongings scattered along the roadside.
According to Fari, several victims claimed they weren’t given any prior notice about the demolition. They were forced to hurriedly pack their possessions as chaos unfolded. She also alleged that security operatives fired tear gas after tensions flared during the operation.
Heartbreaking scenes showed residents sitting beside their salvaged belongings, unsure of their next steps. One woman, a tailor, revealed that all her work tools. And household items were now out in the open, with no place to go.
Fari further explained that many victims were too afraid to record or speak out. Fearing their phones might be confiscated or destroyed during the incident.
She added that such demolitions happen frequently. But they rarely gain attention because affected residents are often too scared to share their stories.
