Ahmed Lawan, former Senate President, distributed 17,000 bags of rice, sugar, and millet to Yobe State residents. The ceremony occurred on Sunday in Nguru Local Government Area. Lawan organized the effort through the Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan Foundation.
Allocation Details
Organizers divided the bags equally across Yobe’s 17 local government areas. Each area obtained 1,000 bags of the food items. Beneficiaries comprised All Progressives Congress stakeholders, party supporters, and vulnerable individuals.
Initiative’s Goal
Bashir Nguru represented Lawan at the event. Nguru holds the position of national secretary in the Tinubu House-to-House Network. Lawan stated that the distribution supported Muslims in observing Ramadan with ease.
He said, “This gesture demonstrates my commitment to always stand with my people, in both joyful and challenging times.”
Moreover Lawan noted that the aid helped vulnerable groups concentrate on religious obligations. He added that it supplemented actions by the federal government and Yobe State government to alleviate citizens’ difficulties.
Responses from Beneficiaries
Alhaji Auwalu Dan-Kwayo addressed the gathering on behalf of the Yobe State Universal Basic Education Board.
Dan-Kwayo thanked Lawan for the program. He said, “We appreciate the former Senate President for this initiative. These palliatives will help ease the economic hardship faced by ordinary citizens, especially during the month of Ramadan.”
