President Bola Tinubu says his administration never promised Nigerians quick fixes but committed itself to delivering long-term reforms and sustainable development.
Godswill Akpabio, president of the Senate, spoke on behalf of the president on Friday at the commissioning of a road project in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to Akpabio, the Tinubu administration remains focused on implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda through deliberate and strategic interventions.
‘We promised structural progress’
Akpabio said the government did not make unrealistic promises when it assumed office.
Instead, he said the administration pledged to pursue reforms capable of delivering lasting benefits to citizens.
“When we came into office, we did not promise you miracles that would appear from thin air,” he said.
“We promised you structural, calculated, and deliberate progress.”
Furthermore, Akpabio said the Renewed Hope Agenda was designed to improve the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
“We promised a Renewed Hope Agenda that would touch the lives of every Nigerian citizen, not just in economic statistics, but in the reality of their daily struggles,” he said.
‘Road project reflects Renewed Hope Agenda’
Meanwhile, the Senate president described the newly commissioned road as evidence of the administration’s commitment to development.
He said the project demonstrates how government policies are being translated into tangible benefits for citizens.
“Today, we are here witnessing that hope made tangible in concrete and asphalt by the FCT administration,” he said.
Akpabio added that infrastructure development remains a key component of the federal government’s efforts to drive economic growth and improve living conditions across the country.
