The speculation began when Nigerian socialite and fashion influencer Rahman Jago shared a video of Burna Boy on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter). In the clip, the singer is heard saying “Alhamdulillah,” an Arabic phrase meaning “Praise be to God.”
The short video quickly went viral, with fans debating whether Burna Boy’s frequent use of Islamic phrases in public. And his music hinted at a formal conversion. Observers pointed out that the artist has occasionally included Arabic expressions in his songs. And public appearances, further fueling the rumors.
Former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad also weighed in on the matter. When asked about the reports on 𝕏, he responded. “Some people close to him said he converted to Islam, but there has been no official confirmation directly from him yet.” This suggested that while insiders were sharing the news.
