Nigerian Grammy-winning Afrofusion star Burna Boy has reportedly embraced Islam. A revelation that has ignited widespread conversations across social media platforms.
The speculation began when Nigerian socialite and fashion influencer Rahman Jago shared a video of Burna Boy on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter). In the clip, the singer is heard saying “Alhamdulillah,” an Arabic phrase meaning “Praise be to God.”
The short video quickly went viral, with fans debating whether Burna Boy’s frequent use of Islamic phrases in public. And his music hinted at a formal conversion. Observers pointed out that the artist has occasionally included Arabic expressions in his songs. And public appearances, further fueling the rumors.
Former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad also weighed in on the matter. When asked about the reports on 𝕏, he responded. “Some people close to him said he converted to Islam, but there has been no official confirmation directly from him yet.” This suggested that while insiders were sharing the news. Burna Boy himself had not made a public statement at the time.
However, Rahman Jago later returned to the discussion, confidently stating, “He converted. He is now a Muslim.”Burna Boy eventually confirmed the news during a livestream on Plaueboymax. He revealed that he had converted from Christianity to Islam and shared his thoughts on creation and spirituality.
