Barcelona have reportedly placed Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, on their transfer wishlist. The development emerged on March 7 2026. Reports from The Athletic confirmed the news.
Moreover, Barcelona sporting director Deco placed the Galatasaray forward on the wishlist. Deco aimed to sign him in the summer window.
Deco Eyes Osimhen As Lewandowski Successor
Barcelona sporting director Deco targeted Victor Osimhen as a strong option. He planned to replace Robert Lewandowski whose contract expired at the end of the season.
Furthermore, Victor Osimhen joined Galatasaray permanently from Napoli in 2025. He delivered consistent performances in Turkey.
Former Star Praises Osimhen Quality
Former Barcelona star Thierry Henry recently highlighted the need for a top striker. He named Victor Osimhen among the best options.
“Barcelona need a real number 9. A top-level striker. I am referring to formidable scorers such as Victor Osimhen, Erling Haaland or Harry Kane. Proven finishers, not prospects,” Thierry Henry said.
Galatasaray Set Firm Stance
However, Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek addressed the rumours quickly. He confirmed Victor Osimhen had no release clause in his contract which runs until June 2029.
“There is no release clause in Osimhen’s contract,” Dursun Ozbek stated.
As a result, Galatasaray valued the 27-year-old forward at around 150 million euros. They bought him for roughly half that amount the previous year.
Laporta Shows Financial Confidence
Meanwhile, former Barcelona president Joan Laporta expressed optimism about a big signing. He believed the club held the necessary capacity.“Barça has the capacity to do it,” Joan Laporta said.
Therefore, speculation grew around a possible summer deal. Nevertheless, the high valuation and long contract created major hurdles for Barcelona.
