Defence Minister General Christopher Musa Assures Victory as Terrorist Commanders Face Daily Losses

Minister of Defence General Christopher Musa addressed journalists on Thursday after a closed-door security meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.

General Christopher Musa spoke following the briefing that involved top service chiefs and the newly appointed Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu.

Musa Counters Media Reports on Casualties

General Christopher Musa clarified the ground situation and corrected what he described as inaccurate media interpretations.

He stated that terrorists and bandits suffered heavier losses than the military.

“The terrorists and the bandits are taking more casualties. Their commanders are being killed every day. We are confident of victory,” General Christopher Musa said.He acknowledged losses among Nigerian troops but stressed the armed forces’ ongoing commitment.

“We have lost a number of very courageous officers and men, which is highly regrettable, but we want to assure Nigerians of the commitment we are putting on the ground to ensure that Nigeria is safe and secure,” he added.

Military Adjusts Tactics and Recaptures Locations

General Christopher Musa explained that the armed forces adapted their strategies in response to recent incidents.Troops then reclaimed affected areas and eliminated key targets.

“We have adjusted our strategies. You can see in the past few days we have taken over those locations. We have killed their commanders and taken over their assets. We will continue to do more,” he said.

Additionally, he noted that terrorist activities often increased during the Ramadan period.

President Tinubu Approves Fresh Military Equipment

President Bola Tinubu pledged additional resources to strengthen the fight against insurgency.

General Christopher Musa revealed that the president approved procurement of new hardware for the armed forces and other security agencies.

“The President has promised more equipment for us to be able to protect the nation, and we assure victory,” he stated.

He further assured that all security agencies worked together as a team to deliver results.

Musa Urges Nigerians to Remain Resilient

General Christopher Musa appealed directly to citizens not to lose hope despite the reports of attacks.

“Our appeal to Nigerians is not to get tired or discouraged. Sometimes, when you hear certain news, you might think that is the full picture, but it is far from that,” he said.

The minister emphasised that the government remained fully committed under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership to restore peace across the country.
