Ubi Franklin dismisses Luxury Watch Theft Allegation at Miami Wedding — Davido Responds

Ubi Franklin Rejects Theft Claims, Explains Watch Incident at Davido’s Miami Wedding

Music executive Ubi Franklin has publicly denied allegations that he stole a luxury wristwatch during Davido’s wedding in Miami last weekend. The rumor gained traction online following a blog post, prompting widespread discussion on social media platforms

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Franklin labeled the accusations as “completely false and misleading.” He shared a detailed account of the events to clarify the misunderstanding.

According to Franklin’s statement, a man named Benny approached him at the wedding with an offer to sell a wristwatch. After inspecting the item and verifying its previous ownership, Franklin declined the purchase to avoid any potential complications—and he communicated that directly to Benny.

Later, during the wedding ceremony at the church, Benny sent his brother with a different wristwatch, which Franklin ultimately purchased and paid for in full. Due to the chaotic atmosphere surrounding the event, he briefly held both watches and wore the one delivery item to the celebration.

Following the wedding, Franklin immediately departed Miami to attend to arrangements for his sister’s funeral. While in the air, Benny contacted him about the other watch still in his possession, highlighting the confusion that led to the dispute.

In his message, Ubi Franklin emphasized:

“I want to state clearly: I am not a thief. I have never stolen from anyone in my life. I purchased a wristwatch and paid in full from Benny.” He added that Benny had already publicly refuted the theft rumor earlier that day.

The executive described this as a deeply challenging and sensitive moment for him and his family, clarifying that this would be his final public statement on the matter.

Davido Backs Ubi Franklin Amid Backlash

Afrobeats star Davido also weighed in, reposting Franklin’s statement and defending him with a blunt message: “You owe nobody any explanation… fools.” The comment served as support amid mounting public scrutiny.
