Joan Laporta secured re-election as president of FC Barcelona after capturing more than 68% of the vote in the club’s presidential election. His challenger, Victor Font, received nearly 30% of the ballots, while the remaining votes were declared void or invalid. The victory grants Laporta a second five-year term, which officially begins on 1 July 2026.
Laporta addressed supporters following the announcement of results. He declared, “This is a victory for all Barcelona members who believe in our project.” He added, “The members have spoken clearly, and we will honour their trust with hard work and dedication.”
Font acknowledged the outcome shortly after the results were confirmed. He stated, “I respect the decision of the members, and I congratulate Joan Laporta on his victory.” He continued, “Barcelona remains above any individual, and we must all support the club moving forward.”
The election result provides Laporta with a renewed mandate to continue his stewardship of the Catalan club. His first term saw Barcelona navigate significant financial challenges while maintaining competitive performance on the pitch. The new term will test his ability to build sustainable success at Camp Nou.
Barcelona now enters a transitional period before Laporta’s second term begins in July. The president-elect will use the coming months to finalise his administrative team and outline strategic priorities for the club’s immediate future.
