The Confederation of African Football declared Morocco the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations champions. As reported by ALO360 officials overturned the final result on March 17 2026 after Senegal forfeited the match.
Confederation Releases Appeal Board Ruling
The Confederation of African Football Appeal Board issued the official statement. Consequently the board applied Article 84 of the AFCON regulations to the case.
“The Confédération Africaine de Football Appeal Board decided today that in application of Article 84 of the Regulations of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations the Senegal National Team is declared to have forfeited the Final Match of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 with the result of the Match being recorded as 3–0 in favour of the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football” the statement read.
Consequences for the Teams
The Confederation of African Football stripped Senegal of the title. Therefore Morocco received the championship along with the recorded 3-0 victory.
Furthermore the ruling required Senegal to return the trophy and medals to the governing body.
