Donald Trump, President of the United States, directed a sharp message at the United Kingdom on Tuesday. He attacked the country for refusing to participate in military strikes against Iran. Furthermore, he demanded that British forces secure the Strait of Hormuz without American assistance.
Trump Delivers Ultimatum to Allies
“All of those countries that can’t get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. He claimed that Iran had been essentially decimated and the difficult military operations had concluded. As reported by ALO360, he insisted that allies must now handle their own security concerns.
President Ends Security Guarantees
“You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us,” Trump stated in his post. Additionally, he urged the UK to “Go get your own oil.” The comments reflected growing frustration with NATO allies who declined to join the US-led campaign against Tehran.
Pentagon Questions British Naval Power
Pete Hegseth, Defense Secretary, echoed the President’s sentiments during a Pentagon press briefing. He publicly challenged the capability of the Royal Navy to secure the vital waterway. “Last time I checked, there was supposed to be a big, bad Royal Navy that could be prepared to do things like that as well,” Hegseth remarked. He argued that the United States uses the strait less than other nations and should not bear sole responsibility for its security.
UK Grapples with Fuel Supply Crisis
Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, faced severe domestic pressure as fuel shortages threatened the economy. The UK reportedly received its final tanker of jet fuel from the Middle East while petrol prices surged past critical thresholds. Consequently, John Healey, Defence Secretary, traveled to Gulf nations to deploy additional air defense systems and troops. However, Downing Street maintained that Britain would not enter the wider war despite Trump’s demands.
International Fallout Continues
Trump also attacked France in a separate post, labeling the country “VERY UNHELPFUL” for restricting military overflight permissions. Meanwhile, Iran continued to blockade the Strait of Hormuz, attacking a Kuwaiti oil tanker near Dubai on Monday. The conflict entered its second month with no resolution in sight.
