Fear has spread across a Kwara community after armed men stormed the area and kidnapped five people.

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers invaded Odo-Ore in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State on Wednesday night, abducting five residents during a late-night attack.
According to reports, about 10 armed men entered the quiet community around 11 p.m., firing sporadic gunshots. Residents said the attackers first targeted the home of Alhaji Yusuf Yunusa, a politician and school proprietor.
Sources said the gunmen forced their way through the gate, broke into the house, and took Yunusa away at gunpoint while he was preparing to sleep. He had reportedly arrived in the town earlier that same day.
Four other victims were also abducted as the attackers fled the community. They were identified as Hausa farmers working in Odo-Ore.
Locals said the attack has created panic in the town, noting that it was the first known kidnapping incident in the area. Some residents also claimed the attackers may have received inside information, as they reportedly moved directly to Yunusa’s residence.
A senior police officer in Owu-Isin reportedly confirmed the incident. However, the Kwara State Police Command had not released an official statement as of the time of filing this report.
Kidnappings and rural attacks remain a growing security concern in several parts of Nigeria, with residents in many communities calling for stronger police presence and faster emergency response systems.
Security concerns continue to rise as residents await action and the safe return of the victims.
