The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted Linus Williams Ifejirika, popularly known as BLord, bail set at N20 million. The bail requires two sureties of the same amount, both of whom must be individuals of reputable standing in society.
Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, who ruled on the bail application, emphasized that granting bail is at the court’s discretion. She also ordered BLord to surrender his international passport to the court registrar and warned him against making public statements about the case.
The judge adjourned the case to April 27 for further hearing.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), BLord has been in custody at Kuje Correctional Centre since April 1. His detention followed his arraignment by the Nigerian police on a six-count charge of alleged impersonation.
The charges claim that BLord impersonated popular social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM). The allegations include using VDM’s image and brand identity to promote business ventures without permission.
BLord’s lawyer based the bail application on constitutional rights and provisions under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) of 2015. The application was supported by a 10-paragraph affidavit, urging the court to exercise its discretion in BLord’s favor.
Interestingly, VDM’s legal team withdrew a previously filed counter-affidavit opposing the bail, signaling no further objection to the application.
The case has drawn significant public attention due to the high-profile nature of both parties involved.
