OAP Oriyomi Hamzat Reverses Ban: Apology to Naira Marley and Return of Marlian Records to Agidigbo FM
In a heartfelt and widely shared on-air moment, veteran broadcaster and media owner Oriyomi Hamzat—founder of Agidigbo 88.7 FM in Ibadan—issued a public apology to Naira Marley for previously banning the singer’s music, and officially lifted a two-year ban on airplay of tracks from Marlian Records.
The Ban That Sparked Outrage
Back in September 2023, following the controversial passing of Mohbad, a former Marlian Records signee, Hamzat joined several radio stations in imposing a freeze on songs from Naira Marley and his label. He clarified that the ban wasn’t about finger-pointing or criminal guilt—it was a precautionary stance considered out of respect for public sentiment and the sensitive nature of the situation.

Fast-forward to August 2025: Hamzat went live on air to address the community and admitted his prior actions may have been too hasty. In a video that quickly went viral, he expressed regret and acknowledged that he had misjudged the situation.
The ban is now officially lifted, and Marlian Records music—including Naira Marley’s songs—are back on Agidigbo FM’s playlist.
