Chelsea legend Sam Kerr will leave the club at the end of the season when her contract expires.
Sam Kerr will leave Chelsea Women this summer, ending a successful six-year stay with the Women’s Super League champions.
The Australian striker, Chelsea’s all-time leading WSL scorer, confirmed that Saturday’s match against Manchester United Women will be her final appearance for the club. Kerr scored 115 goals in 157 matches and helped Chelsea win five Women’s Super League titles, three FA Cups, and three League Cups.
Kerr said she feels “happy and grateful” when reflecting on her time at Chelsea.
The 32-year-old returned to action in 2025 after spending 20 months sidelined with an ACL injury suffered in January 2024.
Widely regarded as one of the best strikers in women’s football, Kerr also won two WSL Golden Boots and several individual awards during her time in England. Her departure leaves Chelsea searching for a new number nine ahead of next season.
Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor is expected to strengthen the club’s attack during the summer transfer window as the team prepares for life after Kerr.
