Global music star Shakira has released “Dai Dai,” the official anthem for the FIFA World Cup 2026, in collaboration with Nigerian Afrobeats singer Burna Boy.
Shakira announced the release on Friday through her social media platforms.
“Dai Dai is here. The @FIFAWorldCup 2026 starts now!” she posted.
FIFA Confirms Release of World Cup Anthem
Fédération Internationale de Football Association also confirmed the release in a statement shared on its official X account.
According to FIFA, the song is now available on major streaming platforms worldwide.
“Today, excitement for the FIFA World Cup 2026 continues to build with the release of Dai Dai, featuring Shakira and Burna Boy via Sony Music Latin,” the organisation stated.
FIFA described the track as a song that reflects the energy, passion and global spirit of the tournament.
Song to Support Global Education Fund
FIFA said “Dai Dai” will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.
The organisation aims to raise $100 million before the end of the tournament to provide children around the world with access to quality education and football opportunities.
According to FIFA, royalties from the song will contribute to the initiative.
Shakira also pledged to donate her royalties from the song to the fund.
Sony Music Latin will match the first $250,000 raised with an additional donation.
Lyrics Celebrate Football Legends and Nations
“Dai Dai” features motivational lyrics focused on resilience, ambition and unity.
The song references several football legends and global stars, including Pelé, Diego Maradona, Paolo Maldini, Romário, Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrés Iniesta, David Beckham, Kaká, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Mohamed Salah.
The track also mentions football nations such as Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, the United States, England, Germany, France, Spain, Mexico, Japan, South Korea and the Netherlands.
Shakira Returns to World Cup Stage
The new release marks Shakira’s return to the FIFA World Cup music stage.
She previously recorded Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) for the 2010 tournament in South Africa and La La La for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
For Burna Boy, the collaboration adds another major international milestone to his global music career.
Nigerian Artists Continue FIFA World Cup Presence
Burna Boy now becomes the second Nigerian artist to feature on a FIFA World Cup song.
Davido previously appeared on Hayya Hayya (Better Together) alongside Trinidad Cardona and AISHA for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Rema to Headline Opening Ceremony
FIFA also announced that Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema will headline the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles on June 12.
Shakira will also co-headline the final halftime show on July 19. FIFA said the event will mark the first halftime show in World Cup history.
According to the organisation, the performance will unite global artistes “at the intersection of sport, culture, and purpose” in support of the education fund.
FIFA added that “Dai Dai” joins other songs already released from the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album, including Lighter, Por Ella, Echo and Illuminate.
