Teenager Lamine Yamal starred as Spain secured their first victory of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Spain cruised to a convincing 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia in Group H, with Lamine Yamal opening the scoring just 10 minutes into his first World Cup start.
The 18-year-old Barcelona forward finished from close range after a low cross from Mikel Oyarzabal. The goal made Yamal only the second player aged 18 or younger, after Pele in 1958, to score in a World Cup match.
Spain quickly took control of the game. Oyarzabal added two goals before half-time, finishing twice in quick succession to put Luis de la Fuente’s side firmly in command.
The fourth goal came early in the second half when Marc Cucurella’s shot rebounded off Saudi Arabia defender Hassan Al Tambakti and into the net.
Spain continued to dominate possession and create chances, while Saudi Arabia managed only one shot on target throughout the match.
The victory comes after Spain were held to a frustrating goalless draw by Cape Verde in their opening World Cup fixture. The result boosts their hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the tournament.
Spain are back on track at the World Cup, with Lamine Yamal and Mikel Oyarzabal leading an impressive attacking display.
