Alexx Ekubo’s relative claims key details about the actor’s death remain unclear, raising fresh concerns within the family.
Days after the burial of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, fresh controversy has emerged over the circumstances surrounding his death. A relative of the actor has alleged that several important details remain unclear. And this has left family members with unanswered questions.
In a statement shared on Instagram on June 25, David Ekubo, identified himself as Alexx’s cousin. He claimed the family was not fully informed about events leading to the actor’s passing. He said the situation has caused pain and confusion among relatives. According to him, “With grave pain, heaviness and sorrow, the family of Ikenna Alex Ekubo advises the public that the events leading up to his passing have been unclear.”
David also alleged that the family was not informed immediately after Alexx died on May 11. He further claimed that as the family representative who received the actor’s body from the mortuary, he was not allowed to view it. As a result, concerns have continued to grow among some relatives. He added that Alexx’s mother and only sibling have not received a formal explanation about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Meanwhile, the statement questioned some funeral arrangements. David claimed certain family members did not approve of wearing white during parts of the burial ceremony. According to him, the choice appeared more like a celebration of life for someone who died at the age of 40. “The Ekubo family did not approve the wearing of white for what seemed to be a celebration of life,” he alleged. However, Alexx Ekubo’s management team has not publicly responded to the claims.
