Ycee reacts to the Peller backlash, says he stands by his comments, and urges Nigerians to create better content instead of complaining.
Nigerian rapper Ycee has finally reacted to the criticism that followed his comment about content creator Peller during the ongoing “Olodo” controversy.
Despite the online outrage, the rapper made it clear that he has no regrets. Speaking during a radio interview, Ycee said he only shared his opinion and never expected the conversation to become this heated.
“I said what I said. I don’t care about any of these things. I said what I said, and anybody that feels offended by it, I said what I said.”
He also explained that many people misunderstood his comments. According to him, the situation became bigger than he expected because people rushed to either defend him or attack his opinion.
“Everybody just took it out of context. It’s even worse than I thought because there’s so many people that are coming out to either defend or try to take jabs at what it is that I was saying.”
However, Ycee believes people should focus less on complaining and more on creating better content. He encouraged anyone tired of what he described as “brain rot content” to become a creator instead.
“If you’re tired of the brain rot content that you’ve been consuming, then by all means, throw your hat into the ring. Get in the game.”
The rapper also revealed that he has encouraged other creators to start streaming because there is enough space for fresh voices online. Meanwhile, Ycee insisted that the backlash has not affected his work or distracted him from his goals.
