Adeboye: I don’t support those who say Tinubu hasn’t done enough in security

ADEBOYE AND TINUBU

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), says he does not agree with those who accuse President Bola Tinubu of doing too little to address insecurity.

Adeboye spoke at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala organised by the Save Nigeria Group on June 23 in Washington, DC.

‘President has done his bit’

Adeboye said Tinubu has fulfilled his constitutional responsibility by giving directives to the military as commander-in-chief.

According to him, the president should not be expected to personally participate in military operations.

“I don’t support those who are accusing the President of not doing enough,” he said.

“When the Commander-in-Chief has given instructions to his subordinates, he has done his bit.”

“You don’t expect him to go and put on khaki.”

Compares Tinubu to Trump

Furthermore, Adeboye compared Tinubu’s role to that of US President Donald Trump.

He said leaders issue directives while military officers carry out operations.

“When my friend Trump gives instructions to go and bomb anywhere, he doesn’t leave the White House,” he said.

“He has done his bit.”

“The rest is left to those who are his subordinates.”

Says military executes presidential orders

Meanwhile, Adeboye said he did not know the specific instructions Tinubu gave military chiefs.

He added that such decisions fall within the president’s constitutional powers.

“What he told the military officers, I don’t know,” he said.

“And I don’t need to know because he’s Commander-in-Chief.”
