US Military Strikes 90 Iranian Targets as Gulf Tensions Escalate

The United States has launched another wave of airstrikes on Iran, escalating tensions as Tehran responds with drone attacks on US military sites in the Gulf.

The US military says it struck approximately 90 targets across Iran during its second consecutive night of operations, bringing the total number of Iranian targets hit over the past 48 hours to 170.

According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the strikes were aimed at weakening Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping and civilian vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The targeted sites included air defence systems, missile and drone storage facilities, coastal surveillance assets, naval infrastructure and military logistics hubs along Iran’s coastline.

The latest operation follows an earlier round of US attacks that Iranian authorities said killed eight soldiers and damaged military positions near the strategic waterway.

In response, Iran’s military announced it had launched a large-scale drone operation targeting US military facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar. Iranian state media reported that the attacks focused on a Patriot missile system in Kuwait, an early-warning satellite antenna in Qatar and US fuel storage facilities in Bahrain.

Several Gulf nations, including Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar, confirmed security incidents or issued alerts following the reported attacks.

The exchange marks one of the most serious direct confrontations between Washington and Tehran in recent years, raising concerns about regional stability and the security of global energy supplies moving through the Strait of Hormuz.

Military activity remains ongoing as both sides continue operations, with fears growing that the conflict could widen across the Middle East.
