Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has praised President Bola Tinubu for approving major infrastructure projects in the South-East.
He said the projects demonstrate the administration’s commitment to rebuilding the region and healing the lingering scars of the Nigerian Civil War.
Soludo made the remarks in a statement posted on his official X account on Wednesday.
Two major highways approved
The governor disclosed that President Tinubu approved the design and procurement of two strategic federal highways linking Anambra with Kogi, Imo and Abia states.
According to him, the roads will improve transportation across the South-East, South-South and North-Central regions.
He added that the projects will also stimulate trade, investment and economic activities.
“Certainly, President Tinubu has a date with history, and even more so with the South-East.”
Soludo said the President continues to demonstrate his commitment to rebuilding the region through critical infrastructure.
“He continues to demonstrate his avowed commitment to orchestrating the reconstruction of the South-East, thereby finally healing the wounds of the Civil War.”
Soludo recounts meeting with Tinubu
The governor revealed that he met President Tinubu on July 1 to discuss the South-East’s infrastructure needs.
A day later, Minister of Works David Umahi contacted him and requested details of the priority road projects.
Soludo said he submitted the proposals on July 3.
The projects include the 108-kilometre Otuocha–Anam–Abaji Road, linking Anambra and Kogi states.
The second project is the 150-kilometre Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube (Okigwe Junction) Road. It connects Anambra, Imo and Abia states to the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway.
According to Soludo, Umahi informed him on July 15 that President Tinubu had approved both projects for design and procurement.
Roads expected to boost regional economy
Soludo described the highways as transformative projects that will strengthen regional integration and improve movement of people and goods.
He said the roads would serve as major economic corridors linking three geopolitical zones.
“These two roads constitute critical game-changers for the South-East, South-South and North-Central.”
The governor also praised Tinubu’s leadership style, saying the President has continued to redefine governance through major infrastructure investments.
“The man who tamed the Atlantic Ocean in Lagos is certainly redefining politics, and the South-East won’t be the same again.”
Governor thanks Tinubu
Soludo said the approvals show the value of collaboration between governments.
He added that meaningful partnerships produce projects that directly improve the lives of citizens.
“For me personally, this is why politics makes sense to me: working collaboratively and building alliances to achieve concrete results that improve the lives of the people.”
The governor thanked President Tinubu for approving the projects and expressed confidence that history would remember the administration’s intervention in the South-East.
