Street-pop star Portable has wasted no time reacting to his dramatic boxing rematch with Nollywood actor Charles Okocha. Days after being disqualified in Lagos, the singer released a fresh diss track aimed at both Okocha and the fight officials.
How the rematch went
The rematch, tagged “Unfinished Business,” took place at the Chaos in the Ring event inside the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island. Fans expected fireworks after Okocha claimed the first fight was unfairly decided in Portable’s favour.
The rematch quickly turned chaotic. Portable looked in control before both fighters became locked in a wrestling-style struggle. The referee failed to separate them, forcing security officials into the ring.
During the confusion, Portable walked out before the referee gave a final decision. The crowd booed loudly as officials brought him back. Soon after, the referee disqualified the singer, handing Okocha the victory.
Portable has responded through music
Portable has now responded through music instead of another fight. In the new song, he mocks the referee for looking away during the struggle. He also warns that he would rather settle any future dispute through local wrestling.
Another lyric accuses Okocha of trying to choke him, claiming that was why the contest turned into a street fight. As expected, the song has already sparked reactions online among fans of both celebrities.
Portable’s boxing loss to Charles Okocha was his second ever
Meanwhile, the defeat became Portable’s second boxing loss. Earlier this year, he lost to Carter Efe by unanimous decision at the same venue.
After his first defeat to Okocha, Portable revealed he earned ₦50 million for lasting one round. He also claimed he would have received ₦100 million if he had completed two rounds. Despite the setback, he described himself as “a glorious child” and insisted his music career remained strong.
Elsewhere, Basit Adebayo, Suleiman Jafaru, Michael Babalola, Shiloh Defreitas and Yusuf Adeniji recorded impressive wins, while the celebrity clash between Idowest and Mr Real ended in a draw.
