Timini Egbuson has opened up about a chapter of his life many fans never knew. The Nollywood star admitted he once borrowed money just to maintain a flashy lifestyle.
He made the revelation during a recent appearance on the MENtality podcast. His honest confession has since sparked conversations about money, fame, and the pressure to impress.
According to the actor, he once spent huge amounts on luxury items, especially perfumes. He revealed that he owned about 150 perfumes before changing his mindset. Looking back, Timini believes that money could have been better invested.
“There will always be a newer watch, a newer car. I used to be a perfume collector. I had about 150. But I realised that I could have invested the money I spent acquiring perfumes in purchasing land,” he said.
He also encouraged people to ask themselves if they are buying expensive things for personal happiness or because of peer pressure.
Timini also spoke about his relationship with money and happiness. He explained that he has faced difficult financial moments but refused to let them define him.
“There are times when I have been broke, but my energy is always the same because I found a way to be happy with whatever I have,” he said.
He added that real happiness should not depend on luxury items or social status.
The actor also warned about the pressure created by social media. He said many people feel forced to appear successful even when they are struggling. According to him, pretending to have a perfect life can become emotionally draining.
“For people who are watching me, I always try to let them know that there will be bad and good days… I used to be that guy who lived a fake life and borrowed to impress people. But not anymore,” he said.
His message serves as a reminder that financial peace is more valuable than keeping up appearances.
