In the Kebbi kidnap video, one of the abductors questioned the girls:

  • “What is today’s date?”
    The girls responded: “25th November.”
  • “Were you starved?”
    They answered: “No.”
  • “Were you looked after well?”
    The girls said: “Yes.”
  • “Were you molested in any way?”
    They replied: “No.”

The captor then asked how many helicopters hovered above their camp.
The girls said they saw “many”, but none were able to rescue them by force.

In the video, the abductors insisted that the government failed to secure the girls through force. They claimed the release happened only because of direct dialogue between their leaders and authorities.

The captor said:

“We decided to release you after peaceful dialogue. Today, you will go home to your parents, In shaa Allah.”

The girls responded together:
“Thank you. Thank the Almighty Allah.”
