The Federal Government has prolonged the application period for recruitment into paramilitary agencies by an additional week.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially announced an extension to the application deadline for its ongoing recruitment exercise into various paramilitary agencies overseen by the Ministry of Interior. Initially scheduled to close on Monday, August 4, 2025, the online application portal will now remain open for an additional week, with the new closing date set for Monday, August 11, 2025.
This extension was confirmed in a public statement released on Sunday by Major General Abdulmalik Jibrin (Rtd), Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB). According to the retired general, the decision to grant an extension was made in the interest of fairness and inclusivity, providing a wider window for prospective candidates who may have experienced delays or difficulties in submitting their applications.

He emphasized that the extra time is intended to ensure that all qualified Nigerians who are interested in serving in any of the paramilitary arms—namely the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), the Federal Fire Service (FFS), and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)—have ample opportunity to complete and submit their applications.
“This one-week extension is to enable more Nigerians, especially those who encountered technical difficulties or were unable to access the application portal earlier, to take part in the recruitment process,” the statement read. “It is also to ensure equal access and avoid the exclusion of potentially eligible and capable individuals from various parts of the country.”
Major General Jibrin further reminded applicants that the only legitimate and officially recognized recruitment portal should be used for the submission of applications. He urged the public to beware of fraudulent websites, unofficial links, or individuals claiming to have influence over the recruitment process.

“The Board wishes to reiterate in the strongest terms that the recruitment exercise is entirely free of charge,” he said. “No applicant is required to pay any fee at any stage of the recruitment process. Any demand for payment by anyone claiming to represent the Board or the Ministry of Interior should be reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.”
He also reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to upholding transparency, equity, and merit-based selection throughout the entire recruitment exercise. According to him, every application will be evaluated strictly on the basis of qualifications, suitability, and adherence to established procedures.
“The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board remains fully dedicated to conducting a credible, transparent, and inclusive recruitment exercise. We are determined to select the best candidates to serve our country with diligence, professionalism, and patriotism,” he concluded.
Prospective applicants are therefore encouraged to make use of the extended timeline to finalize and submit their applications, while ensuring that all provided information is accurate and complete. The government reiterates its appeal for vigilance and patience from the public as the process unfolds.
