Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has approved the immediate disengagement of four aides. The decision followed an investigation into the assault on Abdulrahman Sheriff, the councillor representing Shamaki Ward in Gombe Local Government Area.
The Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, announced the decision on Tuesday. He said a special committee investigated the incident and submitted its findings to the governor.
Security agencies also supported the committee’s report. Their findings influenced the governor’s final decision.
Gombe Assault: Affected Aides Identified
The aides include Adamu Abdullahi Danko, Senior Special Assistant II on Domestic matters. Garba Mohammed Mai Rago, Senior Special Assistant II on Political affairs, also lost his position.
Others are Rabiu Sulaiman Abubakar, Senior Special Assistant II on Social Media, and Ali Ibrahim Baban Kaya, Senior Special Assistant II on Community Relations.
The government said the disengagement takes immediate effect.
Governor Orders Immediate Handover
The statement directed all affected aides to hand over government property without delay. Authorities will take custody of the items.
Governor Yahaya restated his zero tolerance for violence, misconduct, and abuse of office. He warned that such actions threaten public peace and trust in government.
Commitment to Law and Stability
The governor assured residents of Gombe State of his commitment to law and order. He said his administration will continue to uphold accountability and peaceful coexistence.
Yahaya added that the government will take firm steps to protect public order. He also pledged to preserve the state’s stability.
The incident earlier triggered public outrage and renewed calls for accountability in public office.
