Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has described himself as Nigeria’s most abused politician after President Bola Tinubu. He also declared that political activities in Rivers State will formally begin in January 2026.
Wike spoke on Saturday during a thanksgiving service organised by former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, in Ochiba community, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.
According to him, persistent attacks against him stem from his refusal to break agreements and his open support for President Tinubu.
Wike Reaffirms Support for Tinubu
The former Rivers governor said he has never hidden his political stance. He stressed that he stood firmly with Tinubu during the difficult period of the 2023 elections.
Wike recalled that many political actors avoided public support for Tinubu at the time. However, he said leaders and supporters in Ahoada East and West stood their ground.
As a result, he credited the people of the area for strengthening Tinubu’s mandate in Rivers State.
Politics in Rivers Begins January 2026
Wike announced that political activities in Rivers State will officially resume in January 2026. He warned politicians against making promises they cannot keep.
He stressed that he values agreements and expects strict implementation once parties reach a consensus. Therefore, he urged supporters not to be distracted by recent political realignments.
‘Abuse Comes With Standing by Agreements’
The FCT minister said some politicians attack him for personal benefit. He claimed that criticising him has become a strategy to attract political relevance and financial rewards.
Despite the criticism, Wike said he remains committed to supporting Tinubu. He thanked loyal supporters for standing firm despite provocations.
