Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has received a major lifeline. The Abia State Government has paid N25 million for her medical treatment. The payment comes only days after the actress appealed to Nigerians for financial help. She had revealed that she needed N30 million for three urgent surgeries. Her emotional appeal touched many fans across the country.
The good news was announced by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Dr Justice Okey Martins, also known as JMartins. He shared the update on his X page on Thursday, July 30. According to him, the money went straight to the hospital treating the actress. He wrote:
“PAYMENT MADE TO THE HOSPITAL.
Yesterday before the close of work, His Excellency @alexottiofr our pragmatic leader made good his promise, directing a 25M payment to the hospital’s account where our Nollywood legendary actress Mrs Ngozi Nwosu is receiving treatment. We thank you immensely for your support and kindness of heart sir. History will be kind to you. Daalu Ri Nne Chioma Ndi Abia.”
Earlier, the 62-year-old actress opened up about her health battle. She disclosed that she had been in the hospital for three weeks. Sadly, the treatment costs became too much for her to handle. She then turned to the public for support. In an emotional video on Instagram, she begged fans, colleagues, friends, and family not to abandon her during this difficult period.
Meanwhile, the Abia State Government’s intervention has brought fresh hope to the beloved screen star. Many Nigerians have praised Governor Alex Otti for acting quickly. Others have also continued to send prayers and kind messages to the actress.
Fans now hope Ngozi Nwosu will undergo the surgeries successfully and return to doing what she loves most.
