Operation Hadin Kai Troops Kill Six Terrorists in Adamawa Attack

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled an attack by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters on a military base in Adamawa State, killing six insurgents and recovering weapons and ammunition.

The attack targeted Forward Operating Base Garaha in Hong Local Government Area on Monday night, according to the military. Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, disclosed the incident in a statement on Tuesday. He said the insurgents advanced on foot from the LAR axis and launched their assault at approximately 9:07pm, attempting to overrun the military position.

However, the troops responded with superior firepower and coordinated tactics, forcing the attackers to retreat, Goni said. A subsequent search of the area led to the discovery of six bodies believed to belong to the attacking insurgents, confirming their deaths, according to the statement.

Weapons and Ammunition Recovered

The military said troops recovered a PKT machine gun, three ammunition belts containing 67 rounds, six AK-47 rifles and 11 AK-47 magazines. Other recovered ammunition included 157 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 120 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and a 60mm mortar bomb. The troops also recovered an Android phone, a Canon portable video recorder, three camelback water bags, a magazine carrier and assorted clothing.

Goni disclosed that some military personnel sustained injuries during the encounter. The wounded soldiers are receiving medical attention, while evacuation arrangements are ongoing. He added that troops had increased vigilance and continued searching the surrounding areas to prevent further attacks and recover additional items of operational significance.

The military described the successful defence of the base as evidence of the troops’ readiness and determination to protect their positions and weaken insurgent capabilities across the North-East.

Operation Hadin Kai, according to Goni, will continue intelligence-led operations aimed at restricting terrorist movements, protecting vulnerable communities and improving security across the region.
